| WYyRD HISTORY 101 Facts (sorta) Meet the CAST MEDIA |
101 FACTS ABOUT WYyRD YOU NEVER REALLY WANTED TO KNOW 1. The idea to make the series came out of staring at an ink-blot. 2. The happy shirt was discovered by accident. 3. Falk used to be uber neurotic (instead of just slightly neurotic) 4. Has Falk ever had sex? Your guess is as good as mine, but I'm leaning towards "NO". (in strip #49 his virginity was confirmed) 5. Once, while developing the concept, a strip was never finished because I hated it. However I sold the sketch for £10. 6. Falk suffers from FBE (Full Body Erection), to this day there's no cure. 7. "Falk" is short for "Falkvord". 8. Izzie's full name is "Isadora Jeanette Hansen". 9. Her mom uses that name whenever she's in a bad mood. 10. Her mom has never actually been in the series. 11. She probably never will either. 12. Well, now that I've brought her up, who knows? 13. In a very early storyline, never actually finished (you wouldn't believe how often that is the case), Falk gets a visit from Frank the Bunny (from Donnie Darko). 14. Frank wants camomile tea. 15. Izzie was originally intended to be a femme fatale with black hair, gothic dresses and knives. 16. She then turned into a bookworm with blue hair and a hot temper while in chat rooms. 17. She nolonger reads books, cause that'd mean I'd have to do alot of research. 18. Yes, she's a natural blonde. I would know. 19. Sparrows are rude little twerps. 20. Falk wants to be a member of the 501st Legion. 21. He failed the entrance exam as he was too clumsy to be a stormtrooper. 22. Falk and Izzie are not a couple. 23. If they were the world would most likely go under. 24. Falk's brother's name is Hawk. 25. Their parents are amateur ornithologists. 26. 'Wyyrd' changes its look about once every year. 27. This means that Falk changes his outfit once or twice every year. 28. Over the years we've never seen him take a bath, or a shower. 29. He still changes his clothes more often than most other comic strip characters, so BLAH! 30. Falk is amazingly tonedeaf. 31. He still sings. 32. Izzie is really a 42 year old man from Puerto Rico called Alehandro Montoya. 33. Original profession: plumber. 34. The two previous statements are not true. 35. Worryingly many people think Izzie is HOT, and/or their ideal woman. 36. The people in this series don't have any mouths. 37. Their eyes are more than expressive enough. 38. This might be a factor in why Falk is so stickly thin.. 39. For the record I DO know how to draw mouths. 40. 'Wyyrd' is set in Norway, but the actual location wants to stay incognito. 41. Surprisingly many strips have been rejected because foreigners couldn't possibly begin to understand them. 42. Wai nøt plæn a trip tu Nørwæi dis yer? Cøme ænd si de fæntæstik fiørds ænd de mæjestik møøse! 43. No moose have yet been harmed under the making of this series. We're still hoping though. 44. Falk's current hairstyle is based on an old picture of me. 45. His hairstyle used to be simply bad. 46. Falk was made to be a tool for me to use, while Izzie was somewhat based on a friend of mine. 47. Nine out of 45 entries in this list have begun with the name 'Falk'... 48. Coffee is your best friend and worst enemy. 49. The universe has it in for these guys... 50. ...or rather, I do! :3 51. Soccer can go and die. 52. Many of the strips are losely based on actual events. 53. Izzie isn't really a terrible cook, she's just highly experimental. If normal cooks were doctors, she'd be Doctor Frankenstein. 54. Falk pulled a groin muscle when he did the split on the ice, it still hasn't fully healed. 55. Izzie doesn't drink, Falk drinks ales. 56. 'World of Warcraft' is a thing of the devil. 57. The cat 'Shredder' is evil. 58. There was never an investigation after the time Falk scared that old woman to death on Halloween 2006. 59. However, they almost found themselves in a pickle when Izzie almost killed Santa Claus with her costume. 60. Izzie loves to dance. 61. Around now I realise that I should have made an A-Z list about 'Wyyrd' instead of a "101 facts"... 62. On second thought, this is more interesting. Also, some would say entries like this is cheating like fuck, but then I never cheat. EVER! WHO SAID OTHERWISE?! ;@ 63. There's a list of ideas in an old book that were never realised. Nor will they ever, cause I've forgotten the jokes.. 64. The first official picture made of the Wyyrd characters was an acrylic painting on huntonite, named 'Gothic Fun'. 65. 'Wyyrd's original name was 'Smågoth', which means something like "alittle goth", but it was also a pune, or play on words, on "smågodt" which is pick and mix candy. 66. The name was changed because mysteriously the word 'smågoth' was used as punchline in a comic magazine, around one month after I sent in some strips to that very magazine. 67. I love Izzie's current hair-do. 68. Also when she first started to get her final appearance I borrowed a few traits from a friend of mine to spicen up the mix. 69. The character Zola is also based on this person, but this time it's done more to honor her or whatever you'd call it. 70. It was also done because she on several occasions expressed a need to kick Izzie's arse on account of Izzie being a horrible, horrible skank. 71. Wire is also such a character. He's composed of two different people I know who're mostly so alike that it's hard to know where one begins and the other one ends. His name is the result of mixing their first names together. 72. This character is also a connoisseur of many weird things and abit of an allround geek. This also says alot about the people he's made from... 73. Seeing I am a narsissist and thus a huge fan of myself I've also implemented myself into the series as a sidekick and necessary social element. 74. Zola does not actually live in the area where this is happening, she's just visiting Gard indefinatly. 75. She's kicked Gard out of his bedroom, and now he sleeps on the couch. 76. Gard lays there awake every night wondering how the hell that happened. 77. It is much, much easier to come up with ideas for this series than actually producing this. This is because I've been making laziness into an artform. 78. At this time there is a Moleskine sketchbook lying next to me containing 29 finished manuscripts for future strips. OOPS! Better make that 30! 31... u_u 79. The first 20 strips was made for a University exam. The project got the grade "A". 80. One of these was never translated into English, nor put out on the net on account of it blowing monkeys. The characters didn't even look like themselves.. seriously.. 81. During the exam-exhibition there was a little seven year old girl that walked up to me reading one of the comicbooks I'd pasted together for the occasion. She told me "This is actually quite good. Well done!", I remember thinking "Score!" 82. In a sudden rush of grandure/gratitude/whatev I signed the book and gave it to her mother, who also was a "fan". 83. The book still ain't worth shit, but one day. ONE DAY... I'll regret handing it to her.. 84. I'm listening to the Equilibrium soundtrack. It's delightfully epic. 85. Music is of great importance while making these strips, which is evident in those strips that contains dancing, airguitaring, singing etc etc... 86. When the first 20 was made I created a set of dogmatic rules that the series had to follow. This involved techniques that I were allowed to use, colours, format and so on. 87. These rules were made through a long series of testing. There were maquettes made of all the originals where I used a different technique and style on each one. 88. When I made "Ice Ice Baby" almost a whole year after the original 20 I started to discard these rules and let the series evolve on its own accord. 89. On a shelf behind me right now there's a small bust of Falk, made by modelmaker Hanne Frivold. This bust was made by analyzing all the earlier strips of him and making a generic model of him. By the time I was about to make "Loquacious" I had to use it as reference, so it pretty much defined Falk's look for the future. Strips used as reference to sculpture used as reference to strips. Full circle. 90. In a display case at the Arts Institute at Bournemouth's modelmaking department there is three model heads of Falk made in Sculpey, Milliput and plasteline. They've been displayed there for almost 2 years as examples to newest students at the Institute. 91. I myself own one button, two t-shirts and one hoody with the inverted Wyyrd-smiley. 92. To my knowledge there only exists 10 garments with an official Wyyrd motif in the world today. I know of three bootleg versions also. 93. As I'm writing this my next strip will be #50. If I ever reach #100 it'll be a fucking achievement! 94. Lately the strips have become more slightly more offensive in terms of gore, violence and offensive language. This is because I nolonger give a flying rats-arse! >;@ 95. As most probably have guessed, "wyyrd" is pronounced similar as "weird", and shares the same meaning. The name was inspired by the book "Wyrd Sisters" by Terry Pratchett, whos books are a great inspiration and confirmation of my own suspicions. 96. On two occasions I've tried to get it published in Norway, but I guess it just ain't what the editors are looking for. I've stopped making these for potential commercial exposure, so now EVERYTHING can happen. :3 97. The characters in Wyyrd age as we all do, though slower. So there's actually a slim chance you'll see them grow up and actually getting lives. 98. This would of course involve me getting one too, so fat chance.. 99. The subjects explored in Wyyrd aren't
often too happy, but then again life ain't perfect. |
